Let them take their profits. Average down if you have to. On the otherhand, what happens if the stock shoots up after the split? Bottom line is that a year from now it doesn't matter!

A lot of things can bring this stock down. And a lot can keep it going as well. Track record, which in this case is a VERY GOOD indicator, states that MSFT should grow about 25-35% per year. Why argue with a good return on a solid and stable company?

Ann, a few days and a few points dont matter much. Look at the long term picture. When I first looked at Microsoft in Dec of 1996 it had just split and was 76. I thought long and hard and bought intel instead. Intel is a fine company but it has been deep in the doldrums, while had I bought msft instead I would have doubled my money in a little over a year. And in a fine strong company!!!!! So I would say just go for it. It may go up or down a few points but over the month after the split it will go sharply up as people who like to buy in lots of 100 but could not afford it at 150 + decide to buy in.
