Eric, Heck if you want to pay for much more gasoline go for it. I don't think my plug-in Toyota Pious will ever pay for itself in terms of gas saved. The price premium over a regular Pious was just too much. Most EVs simply don't make any sense in terms of cost-savings. The price-premium paid for getting the EV over an equivalent non-EV version is just too steep. The range anxiety is also real. It's useless to simply blame consumers for that, but that's exactly what you environmentalists LOVE to do. I think it's confirmed that EVs are still rich liberal toys. No one has yet found a way to make it more viable for the mainstream, because once that happens, the transition will happen all by itself. No need for Gavin Newsom, Brandon, and other holier-than-thou liberals to force it. Tenchusatsu
