A spokesperson from Newsom's office told Newsweek that oil refiners in the state are now required to be transparent about their monthly profits to "combat price gouging at the pump."
How are the refiner’s profit related to price gouging at the pump?

Those people are crazy. Chasing away businesses the best they can.

But, I think, the roots of the problems are in our oversized government at all levels, overregulation - and, last but not least, deficit spending. Our Congress members, out of the goodness of their hearts, create - and then “borrow” - incredible amounts of money. We just broke 34 Trillion in debt. Before long, interest payments will be the largest item in the budget.

One of many misallocations of those ‘free” billions are wars. Need another 100 billion? No big deal, just crank the printer an extra few turns.

It also causes corruption - and damages democracy. Politicians don’t depend on the income based on our taxes. People in charge of an infinite money creation machine will, inevitably, come to feel that they’re above everyone.
