@JayinKyiv

In the past 12 months, Putin lost 30% of his military to get those little red areas. Russia is NOT winning.

Russian Tank Casualties in Ukraine Hit Dire Milestone

Russia's forces in Ukraine have lost more than 6,000 tanks in nearly 23 months of war, according to Kyiv's military, as the grueling war shows few signs of coming to an end in 2024.

Moscow has lost 6,002 main battle tanks since February 2022, Ukraine's armed forces said on Thursday. This includes 12 losses in the past 24 hours, according to Ukraine's military command.

Newsweek has not independently verified these numbers, which are complicated by neither side releasing its own figures of equipment losses. But experts have broadly suggested that Kyiv's military is likely not too far off an accurate figure.
..........

The mistakes began early, analysts say. In mid-June 2023, experts told Newsweek that Russia's sky-high tank losses were down to failures in organization and planning, poor training, low morale, and ruptures in the chain of command. The most experienced tank crews were committed to the fight in the very few weeks of the full-scale war, leaving behind new recruits with few trainers to instruct them.

US Bradleys Are Killing It on Ukraine Frontlines

Russian soldiers packed into Moscow's tanks and infantry fighting vehicles (IVFs) are "afraid" to launch operations "when they know that a Bradley will be against them," said Kach, a Ukrainian commander of the country's 47th Mechanized Brigade who goes by his call sign, as is common among Ukrainian fighters.

Kach is adamant—the U.S.-supplied Bradleys save Ukrainian lives along the hottest parts of the front line against Russian troops and armored vehicles.

The M2 Bradley certainly did back in June 2023. One of the infantry fighting vehicles—only operated by the 47th Brigade—took a "direct hit" from a Russian Grad rocket, only for every crew member onboard the struck IVF to survive.

It was quickly dragged away for repairs, and the incident showed the vehicle's "outstanding combat survivability," Hanna Maliar, former Ukrainian deputy defense minister, said at the time.

The U.S. has sent 186 Bradley IFVs to Ukraine to date, plus four Bradley fire support team vehicles. Ukraine has likely been able to use between 100 and 120 in operations, with the rest utilized for parts or training and swapping in when one Bradley is taken out.

It is fast, "very maneuverable" and shields its soldiers with its heavy armor, Kach told Newsweek. But it also packs a punch with its "powerful machine gun," the Ukrainian commander said.

Western experts agree. "The M2 Bradley fighting vehicle is delivering on its long standing reputation as a superior Infantry Fighting Vehicle," said Daniel Rice, a former special adviser to Ukraine's lead commander, General Valeryii Zaluzhny. The survival of infantry soldiers is at the heart of the design, he added.

They have made a real difference on the front lines, and are all being used effectively together by the 47th currently deployed around the embattled town of Avdiivka, rather than sprinkled across different brigades, added Ed Arnold, a research fellow at the London-based Royal United Services Institute think tank.

Ukraine has had Bradleys for a little under a year, and first used them operationally in the summer of 2023. Footage, particularly of the 47th and their Bradleys, has done the rounds on social media in recent months as a testament to Kyiv's success with Western-supplied aid.

"Its speed, lethality and survivability are all superior to Russian infantry vehicles," Rice told Newsweek/

These are the headline advantages of the Bradley. Even when one is hit, the crew has a high chance of survival, and Ukrainian troops can move around very easily in the vehicle, while at once having the notable firepower of the 25mm cannon, 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun plus two TOW anti-tank missile launchers.

The 25mm chain gun is "tearing apart Russian armored columns," Rice said, adding the TOW guided anti-tank weapons are affording Ukraine "increased range against armor."

It is a "very highly valued" piece of equipment, lauded much as Ukraine has praised the U.S.-made Patriot air-defense systems that have knocked Russia's hypersonic missiles from Kyiv's skies, Arnold told Newsweek.

It has proven able to "engage some of the best Russian tanks," even if a Bradley taking on a main battle tank incurs real risks, he added.

The Bradley is partly responsible for the eye-watering Russian losses around Avdiivka, Arnold argued. The 47th has been battling away on this section of the front line, attempting to stop Moscow's creeping encirclement of the town to the north of Donetsk City.

The Kremlin launched its onslaught on Avdiivka in early October, and its advances are enough to worry Kyiv significantly. But Moscow has paid dearly in casualties and armored vehicle losses.

The Bradleys aren't unscathed. A number were initially destroyed by Russian artillery in open terrain, but Ukraine quickly adapted, using them more nimbly and taking advantage of natural cover, Arnold said.

It is not clear just how many Ukraine have left. A total of 63 have been destroyed, damaged, abandoned or captured, according to Dutch open-source outlet, Oryx.

But many of these will have been dragged back for repairs and may even be back up and running, and the Oryx figure only covers visually verified damage between February 2022 and early October 2023.

@McFaul

We disarmed Ukraine in 1994. We gave Ukraine hardly any arms after Putin invaded in 2014. We failed to deter Putin's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. We cannot fail Ukraine again by delaying military aid any longer in 2024. We're better than that.

Lukashenko grants himself lifelong immunity from prosecution.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, a longtime ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, signed a law on Wednesday that grants him lifelong immunity from criminal prosecution.

The law applies to any former president of Belarus, as well as members of his or her family. Beyond that, the legislation also prevents opposition leaders who are living abroad from being candidates in future presidential elections.

Critics say the law is designed to keep Lukashenko in power by warding off the threat of opposition figures such as Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who left Belarus for Lithuania in 2020.

The law also gives former presidents and their families lifelong protection, along with medical care, life and health insurance. AP also said that former presidents will now also receive a lifelong seat in the upper house of parliament upon resigning.

El Trumpo lawyer says the fix is in and Kavanaugh will "step up and rule for" the would-be dictator

Donald Trump's lawyer, Alina Habba, has defended her comments suggesting that Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh will "step up" and rule in favor of the former president in the Colorado 2024 ballot decision.

Speaking to Fox News's Sean Hannity, Habba singled out Kavanaugh as one of the nine justices who should vote on the side of Trump in a potential decision on whether to overturn the Colorado Supreme Court's December ruling to disqualify the former president from running for office in the state.

Trump sent an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court about the historic ruling that said his actions in and around the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. The section states that a person who " engaged in insurrection or rebellion" after taking an oath of office to support the Constitution cannot run for office again.

The Supreme Court, which has a conservative majority including three judges nominated to the bench by Trump—Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch— is expected to take up the case and decide whether the Colorado decision should remain in place or be thrown out.

In her interview with Hannity, Habba said that Kavanaugh should rule in favor of Trump in the Colorado decision as the former president "went through hell" to get the judge to the bench.

"It should be a slam dunk in the Supreme Court. I have faith in them. People like Kavanaugh, who the president fought for, who the president went through hell to get into place, he'll step up," Habba said. "Those people will step up not because they're pro-Trump, but because they're pro-law, because they're pro-fairness, and the law on this is very clear."

Habba was criticized for her remarks on social media, including accusations that she was pressuring Kavanaugh to vote in favor of Trump or suggesting that the judge would decide based on perceived loyalty to the former president rather than the law.

Reacting to the criticism, Habba denied indicating that a decision from Kavanaugh would be based on his apparent allegiance to Trump or that the former president was expecting any return of favor from the judge.

"As I have stated multiple times, the Constitution and law speak for itself and I believe every justice will decide on this clear-cut issue fairly," Habba told Newsweek.

"Left-wing media's attempt to intimidate judges who have been put through rigorous vetting due to who they were appointed by is ridiculous, and that is exactly why I addressed it. This is about the constitution and due process, nothing else."

Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court bench in October 2018 following confirmation proceedings in which he had to defend himself from a series of sexual misconduct allegations, including claims from Christine Blasey Ford, a psychology professor, that he sexually assaulted her at a house party in 1982.

Trump defended Kavanaugh amid the allegations and publicly suggested the women accusing the judge were unreliable. Trump also mocked Ford's versions of events of the alleged assault while speaking at a rally in Mississippi in October 2018, days before Kavanaugh's confirmation.
Michael Kagan, a professor of law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, was one of those to condemn Habba for her remarks about Kavanaugh.

"If Alina Habba is right and Justice Kavanaugh feels in any way that he owes Trump and will 'step up,' then she should be sanctioned by the bar for saying this on TV, & thus trying to prejudice a proceeding," Kagan posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Katie Phang, a lawyer and MSNBC legal analyst, posted while sharing a clip of Habba's comments: "Alina Habba saying the quid pro quo part out loud here."

Tim Byrne, an attorney based in Australia, wrote: "Call me crazy, but it's not a great look to openly say that Supreme Court appointments are transactional."

Olivia Troye, who served as a homeland security and counter-terrorism advisor to former Vice President Mike Pence, whose relationship with Trump fell apart in the wake of the January 6 attack, posted: "Don't ever forget that the wannabe mob boss will always cash in on his favors...Habba saying it loud & clear for Justice Kavanaugh."

Trump Campaign Coordinated Michigan Fake 2020 Elector Scheme: ReportBOMBSHELL REVELATION

Alex Nguyen Breaking News Intern
Published Jan. 05, 2024 12:09PM EST

In December 2020, Donald Trump’s team directly orchestrated the submission of fake elector certificates in Michigan in an effort to overturn the results of the election, according to internal emails reviewed by The Detroit News. In a Jan. 1, 2021, email to senior Trump adviser Boris Epshteyn, Kenneth Chesebro—one of the 19 co-defendants, including Trump, indicted in the Georgia election racketeering case—said the plan was to add fuel to claims that the election was rigged and eventually “void the results favoring” Joe Biden. On the same day, Trump co-defendant John Eastman told Epshteyn that they were trying to hold Biden under 270 electoral votes to push the decision to the House. “If the Republicans there hold true and vote with their state delegations, Trump should win a bare majority of the states,” Eastman wrote. The Detroit News reported that the fake elector documents were filed under different names of state GOP officials to make them appear more believable.

Of course they did. The Traitorous Trumpscum team was trying to steal the election Trumpo LOST.
