The way the world has always worked going back thousands of years, is that the rich and powerful always controlled everyone else. And they were seldom benevolent! The middle ages people was divided into three groups, rich, poor and middle class (bourgeoisie). The rich would not even let their kids associate with the poor, let alone marry them! And it was democracy that finally gave the common person the power to manifest their own destiny and not be living their lives by the leave of the rich and powerful. They could elect their leaders and control the laws and their lives. Good old Greeks got this going 2500 years ago. BUT, and this is my point: Today it is still the rich that control our lives and more every day. Robert Reich said 50 trillion dollars has gone to the top 1% from the 99% over the last 50 years. And they have been gaining more and more of the share of the GNP pie as their power increases by buying politicians to cut their taxes and regulations, at OUR expense e.g. low wages and high prices and less programs that help society e.g. universal health care. So using simple LOGIC, all one needs to see is who is helping the rich do this, and it is clear the rich are using the Republicans more than the Democrats. And they have for 100 years and everyone knows this or should1 So anyone who wants to really have freedom, would support those who are helping them, not hurting them, and of course EVERYONE knows that it is the Democrats who the rich try to dominate! And why only 6% of scientists are Republican, because they are trained to see that equation of political reality. Happy New year!
