This old idea of smart people and not so smart people has been shown to not be real.

Anyone 90 IQ and above can add about 60 points to their intelligence just by studying.

The average person, say one standard deviation below the mean and up, 84% of the population is certainly college material and can add 60 points to their IQ simply buy studying.

Watch this video by James Flynn if you have not seen it. Most don't know this, i.e. The Flynn Effect.

They used to think women were not smart, and only some people were college material.

What they have found out for the average person, is that intelligence is a matter of studying, just like exercise builds muscle, studying builds minds!

It is only 18 minutes as I recall.

And when a person has lived 70 or 80 years I expect them to see the myths, as they are pretty easy to see!

You are much more optimistic than I am. I think if someone has an IQ below 90 they will have a difficult time to reason well enough to dispel common myths. (This is only meant to be a crude assessment.) If someone does not practice critical thinking in their daily life, it would be more difficult to follow someone else's reasoning. They are more likely to hide behind articles of faith, as needed.
