James, Filing talks about shs bought on Dec 9. Covertibles are just bonds and have no votes. Warrants don't become stock until they're exercised. Thus, it was shares that were bought on Dec 9.

To All: H&Q bought 3,393,452 shs on Dec 9, '97.
They divided these shs between 2 H&Q funds they manage. They also have warrants to purchase 1,989,452 shs and preferred stock equivalent to 1,404,000 sh of common. They are big players.
