Going free of Qualcomm might be doable for chip purchasing, but not using their vast array of patents is probably not doable, other than by theft of intellectual property, Qualcomm very generously donated by very low royalties their intellectual property to the world. GSM royalties were 16%. QCOM royalties about 2% despite the efficiency and value being orders of magnitude greater. I disagreed with giving the know-how away for a derisory price but Irwin Jacobs is generous by nature and more interested in making the world great rather than accumulating megatons of money.
