OK for some local delivery trucks and vans, but for OTR big rigs, no way

James,

I actually agree with you. Locally first deliveries such as UPS, mail, last mile stuff is a slam dunk.

Class 8 between Seattle and Portland, a piece of cake.

It will take awhile but electrification is a slam dunk in the long run for most trucking.

So what. Most of those problems will be solved in a short time if they're a problem at all.

You count specialized trucking as a big problem but don't count companies like Amazon solving or mitigating many of them. For example Amazon might start putting panels on their roofs, no doubt they have their own fast chargers going when trucks are loaded or unloaded. Or using hybrids when needed.

You could have come up with all the problems of putting satellites in orbit in 1958 too. Now it's so routine there are too many up there. This is a much easier problem.

The vast majority of trucked freight will use sunlight and AI to drive.

Some diesel will probably survive a few decades.

Some freight will move by train.

Some will move by ship.

You act like EV trucks have to replace ALL trucks. They don't.

Miraje,
Electric truck mandates by some arbitrary xx date are totally impractical and unworkable.
Now now, we put a man on the moon, didn't we?

Surely we can do likewise when it comes to electrifying trucks ...
