Joachim, Their submission to Caesar was a reluctant acceptance of something without protest. They're was nothing "reluctant" about their willingness to pay taxes. They already assumed that what is subject to tax, just or unjust, never belonged to them in the first place. If God is supposed to fulfill all of their needs, like the birds in the sky, then they would have no need to keep that money in the first place.
