The gorilla in the room is AGW. Average freezing levels will continue to slowly rise thus reducing any snowpack and thus water for hydro generation. The swings in drought and flooding events will increase exasperating the problem of water storage which we don't have in abundance such as in California. And everywhere in the world!

It's only going to get worse as more greenhouse gasses accumulate in the atmosphere.

It's just elementary physics at work with the source of the problems caused by humans.

We have even changed the tilt of the Earth's axis!
