Two Chinese smartphone manufacturers, OPPO and Huawei's Honor brand, are set to offer new models capable of satellite calls, following in the footsteps of the country's tech giant, Huawei.

Huawei launched a flagship smartphone that supports incoming and outgoing calls via satellite in August, making it the world's first phone with a satellite calling feature.

On Monday, OPPO introduced its new Find X7 and Find X7 Ultra series and announced that a new model with satellite connectivity, capable of earpiece and hands-free dual-mode function for the first time in smartphones, will be launched at the end of March.

Meanwhile, a recent announcement from Honor revealed that its satellite-supported smartphones will be launched at its press conference scheduled from Wednesday to Thursday.

In November, China Telecom, one of the country's leading telecom giants, stated at a conference that China will soon see a variety of mobile phones equipped with satellite communication functions.

China Telecom itself launched a smartphone featuring satellite communication services in November. The company affirmed that the phone can send and receive messages and make calls via satellite at any time and from anywhere, without the need to switch to a new SIM card or phone number.

(1) I was educated this day about the Sino-Vietnam War of 1979. I vaguely remembered the sequence of events from memory as the issues surfaced, and now I know why-why. Very interesting

... more or less chimes with en.wikipedia.org wiki account

(2) interesting observation, that Team China is one of very extremely few societies periodically go through election by insurrection and regime change by revolt, but of rural population

(3) then there be the topics of the moment, all quite based in points-making

(4) Lastly, the colour w/r to Team China refusing to engage w/ Nvidia's 'castrated' chips

Chimes well w/ the WSJ report ... go figure

Nvidia’s New China Pickle: Customers Don’t Want Its Downgraded Chips

SINGAPORE—After U.S. regulations barred from selling its high-performance artificial-intelligence chips to China in October, the company’s engineers quickly designed a new lineup to comply with the tightened rules.

The U.S. tech company may have found some wiggle room, but it faces a bigger problem: Chinese cloud companies—some of Nvidia’s biggest customers globally—aren’t so keen on buying its lower-powered AI chips.

recommend watching the 2-hours show by the professor from end-to-end, and note that the numbers go up, all within 10 years, and takes consideration of demographic this and that, putting the most exciting and telling portion of the script well within 2026 - 2032, and 2034 should be very good

also explains why Team China has been very transparent starting recently, and why Team USA seems to have lost sense of humor, per the professor's take

Nominal GDP China:USA 130:100
PPP GDP China:USA 2:1
Manufacturing GDP China:USA 3:1
