Eric, several years ago, I installed central air conditioning in my house, which previously didn't have any. To this day, I wonder whether I should have installed a heat pump instead. The problem is that the central A/C system was expensive enough. (Gotta love California high living costs.) Splurging more for a heat pump when I already have a gas furnace seems like a waste of money. And it's not clear to me how much I could have saved on monthly heating bills. Tenchusatsu
