OT If we stopped polluting the atmosphere by burning hydrocarbons today the atmosphere would clear out in decades. However, the contamination by radioactivity can last thousands to millions of years and we have no safe method of dealing with radioactive waste. None. Check out the Hancock nuclear site in eastern Washington, a true nightmare.

Hence unless we can make fusion viable, even I favour wasting hydrocarbons by burning them over nuclear generation.
