What manufacturing brand is your AC?
I don't remember. I didn't pay attention to details like this. Like 99.9% of consumers out there, I just wanted an A/C that doesn't break.

In any case, it cost me a good $8,000 to install the A/C unit. I estimate that it would have cost me $12K to install a heat pump instead, including the removal of a perfectly good furnace.

The extra $4K might have paid for itself over 8-10 years, but that's a guess on my part. I never did the calculations between natural gas and electricity. I just assume that natural gas is still incredibly cheap and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future.
