Every time our politicians come up with these ideas, it always seems like they are out to crush the people they are supposed to be working for. Many of us saw it all coming in the 1990's. And it was deliberate. No doubt about it. << Then in the 1990's I remember helping technicians ship used Perkin Elmer 140's optical aligners to China. (good for circa 10 micron geometries and avove) It was highly unusual because normally the company would scrap used equipment to make sure a competitor could not use it. The technicians were mostly from the almost extinct UK ship building business, so they were not impressed at all. 20 years before, the Ship building business had started exporting to Japan. Nixon opened the doors to China, destroyed the gold backing of the dollar, wasted an entire generation in VN etc. During Reagan, i worked at a very high end resort here in Hawaii doing private dinners. I watched as Chinese and Japanese met with DC 'revolving' door types sold out America to Asia. Clinton threw gasoline on the China fire and in cahoots with R's gave all power to wall st. 7,000,000 homeowners ended up losing their homes. We know what utter clowns we've had a s president since Clinton.

Doren, Can you imagine where we'd be if instead of subsidizing the oil industry with out military in the 50s, we had spent that money on developing solar and becoming energy independent? We're already energy independent. The shale oil revolution has brought us into a position where we are now a net exporter of energy. None of that required any government subsidies. Meanwhile solar isn't what it's cracked up to be. Otherwise China would already be there, given how cheaply they produce solar panels. They're still importing oil and coal from foreigners, especially RuZZia and North Korea. Tenchusatsu
