I think (he says, sagely stroking his beard) you are suffering from Chomp Scan Sync. Two cures: 1) get a smaller monitor.
2) Get your teeth cleaned, like, professionally. The sensation of gliding (where previously you were making sorta a shuddering ratcheting progress thru the root) through that carrot might leave you too sensually enthralled to mind the screen. ("Busy. Carrot.")

Thought I'd throw my ante in here.

Being blessed with a deep voice (we're not talking Barry White, but I can hope, can't I?) I found that just humming a low note can make the screen do a cute little wiggle dance. Change the pitch and the dance changes speed. The whole thing seems to work better with the TV than the computer screen.
