It's actually anti-Israeli, not anti-Semitism, and it's based on the war on Gaza and repeated comments by Israeli leaders expressing genocidal intent. The same thing occurred for Muslims after the October 7 attack by Hamas and after every high profile terrorist plot. It's understandable that many people can only focus on one event or the most recent event if it's big enough to attract overseas attention. The larger picture over the last 75 years has been mostly ignored except by Arabs, Palestinians, and secular Jews who don't view Palestinians as a credible threat to Israel's existence. Even the IDF belittled Hamas' ability to carry out large-scale attacks.
