Rightly or wrongly I have passed on DE. I read couple years back that their new equipment being introduced was not only somewhat of a technological marvel, but also ahead of the competition, and very cost-effective (supposedly) for farmers. The complexity of the equipment required DE service and with that, likely service contracts (so on-going revenue for DE). This conflicted with my view of farmers as a hearty bunch, independent, who kept their equipment operating by doing their own minor, maybe major, repairs. I envisioned a lot of push-back against the new and expensive DE equipment, and not so good for the stock price. Perhaps I've been wrong.

DE. Decided I'll at least follow some of you guys here in Deere with a tracking position Monday. P/e, 11-12 is lower than I expected when I looked today - company exhibits relatively (to itself) low p/s, p/stated bv. Given its apparent dominant position in Ag industry, stock at current price might be an ok ltb&hold small position for me.
