What is ISPhone?

ISPhone is a national network of Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
who offer Internet telephone, fax, and other Internet phone services.

How does ISPhone work?

Every affiliate in the ISPhone network has what is known as a
gateway. (Actually, they may have two or more gateways, depending
on call volume.) When a call is placed using the ISPhone network,
your call connects to your local ISP's gateway, which then sends your
call over the Internet instead of sending it over the regular telephone
system.

Once your call arrives at its destination, it is routed through the
gateway of another ISPhone affiliate to the telephone number you are
calling.

Do I have to own a computer to use ISPhone?

No. You make ISPhone calls using your regular telephone. You do
not need a computer or any other special equipment.

Can I call any time?

Yes. You can use ISPhone any time of the day and any day of the
week.

Can I really call anyone in the U.S. even if they don't even have
a computer?

Yes. You can call anyone in the U.S., and the people you call don't
need any special equipment, either. Of course, you must be calling a
location where there is an ISPhone affiliate to take advantage of
ISPhone's lowest rates. If you are calling someone who isn't connected
to an ISPhone member ISP, you will be asked if you still want to
complete the call at a still low, off-Net rate.

Will I always be able to make a call?

ISPhone has designed its network so that as many people can make
calls as possible.

Can I make a call while I'm on the road?

One of the services ISPhone will add in the future is the ability to make
an ISPhone call from all over the U.S. This feature is not available
now, however.

I've heard that Internet phone quality isn't very good. What
about ISPhone?

ISPhone uses a different and superior technology. Those who have
tested ISPhone can't tell much, if any, difference between traditional
long distance service and Internet phone.

How much does ISPhone cost?

To use ISPhone, you need to be a member of ISPhone and you need
to sign up with the ISP who offers ISPhone in your area. Each
member sets its own rates.

I own a business. Can ISPhone help me save money, too?

Yes. ISPhone members offer programs that can help your business
realize considerable savings over even the lowest of current
long-distance rates.

This sounds too good to be true. What's the catch?

There is no catch. ISPhone can offer very low rates because calls are
placed over the Internet. While the Internet isn't free, is much less
expensive than the regular phone network. So ISPhone ISPs can
charge much lower rates than regular long-distance carriers.
