During the Irish uprising in 1916 an Irishman went to confession and told the priest that he had just killed two British soldiers. When the priest did not answer him the Irishman repeated more loudly that he had killed two of the British troops. Still there was no comment from the priest. Feeling very frustrated, the Irishman shouted, "Father, are ye dead?" "Dead I'm not," his confessor replied.
