Maurice,
Then there's the maintenance cost. And with more things to go wrong as the car ages, end of life will come sooner.
The Toyota Pious has been around for almost three decades. Owners have reported that its reliability is excellent, which of course is typical of anything Toyota produces.

The lifespan of a Pious is around 200K miles. Many owners have reported 300K.

The cost is a bit higher than other cars for its size (lower mid-size). MSRP starts at around $27K, which isn't cheap, but it works very well.

Meanwhile the Toyota Corolla hybrid starts at $23.5K. That's only $1.5K above the MSRP of the non-hybrid version.
Pure electric with a small battery that can be swapped in 7 seconds is the way to move cars.
When someone invents a small, lightweight, and swappable battery that can pack around 50-100 kWh of energy, let me know.
