Hi everyone, A lot has been going on on this thread that I am not sure how to handle. I have gotten e-mail's on both sides of the fence. I still am not sure what, if anything, I will do (since this is a common e-mail comment I get). <off topic> A fellow SI'er sent me a message about this thread: "Companies Whose Management Post to SI"www4.techstocks.com I added the following LONG comment to it (see below), I would like your opinions (pro or con) on the subject. Post them on the "Companies Whose Management Post to SI" thread (not here, I'd like to try and stay on topic).www4.techstocks.com To: marcos (75 ) Wednesday, Feb 18 1998 9:55AM EST From: Matthew J. Landi Reply # 79 of 79 Marcos & all others , I just spent the last hour reading all 78 posts that were on this thread (and my eyes are getting even). I was given this thread by someone I never spoke to before but felt is was in my best interest to read it. I owe him a great debt! I don't quite fit the general description of management to post to SI, but I am....I am the Webmaster & CIO for Araldica Wineries, Ltd. (AWLT) As far as my company is concerned I am on the same level as the VP's. I have been at this for 5 months now and stumbled upon SI by accident. Our company is small, but growing, and in doing my "web work" (as webmaster) I came across a link to an SI thread involving my company. I immediately joined SI for my own use, I paid the $$ not the company. I like to follow our companies thread but, when I saw information that was getting "passed around" was completely in accurate I decided to post. When I joined I had set my bio/profile to read everything there was to know about me. I have never tried to hide who I was or where I worked, never seemed a need for it. (I know better now, but....) In the beginning of my posts some people on the thread felt it was in poor taste for a company "rep" to be posting on the thread, and I offered to withdraw from posting. A lot of members e-mailed me directly and asked me to stay on and keep things going. I have. Like others here, I have gotten the "impolite" e-mail and even worse the wake up phone call. To say these things don't bother me would be a lie, I have learned (or am trying) to take them in stride. It is so funny with our thread:www4.techstocks.com I have gotten used to posting there and they have gotten used to me being there that last month, while be rushed to the ER for emergency surgery, I wrote a note and had a person post it to my companies thread explaining what had happened and why I was not responding to questions for a few days. NUTS? Well my family sure thought I was, but the thread understood why I did it. I "try" to keep my personnel opinions out of the discussions (it does not always work), but my thread knows I have NEVER lied or hyped anything to them. I get them what information I have or try to get them answers. Other times I have to tell them I know something but I cant tell them as it is not public information yet. Most of them respect that, and the others....well they wake me up early in the mourning. LOL Well it does not look like anyone has posted here in over three weeks so Im not real sure that this is followed anymore, but I just wanted to tell you my take on this all. I will follow the thread and post a copy of this to the AWLT thread I am on. Who knows maybe, someone over there will post something here. I am very sorry for the size of my post but appreciate all the great information I got from this thread. Hopefully it will make me more effective on the AWLT thread. Thanks a lot! Matthew J.
