The same could be done of Israelis, especially the settler groups. Most of the secular people on both sides had misgivings on the Oct 7 attack, not only reflecting on the nature of the attack but the likely retaliatory attack of a much larger magnitude focused on taking more territory. The dance has been performed so many times that many Israelis have long suspected government involvement as confirmed by the Jerusalem Post expose' several years ago.
