LLMs cannot code well and imo, only people with little coding experience make such claims. What you get is an almost working code that you have to debug just to make it do what it claims (not real deep issues).

Now if the code is short and simple, you can do it. But if it is short and simple, it should not have taken you long to hand code it either. So 10x claim is BS here, unless he couldn't code in the first place ;)

But if the program is large, complex, or domain specific, then the AI's performance drops through the floor. And you will spend more time debugging it than it would have taken to write it from scratch.

LLMs seem good at repackaging information such as this request:
You

Write a limerick of President Carter explaining to President Obama why peanut farming is better than watermelon farming.

Copilot

Certainly! Here’s a limerick for you:

President Carter, with a grin so wide, Told Obama, “Listen, my friend, with pride, Peanut farming’s the way, It’s better, I say, Than watermelons – they’re just too darned wide!”

It does that well and if I can figure out how to frame the complex formula I want in Excel, it does that well also, perhaps after finding a few bugs in the first attempt or two.

Far worse, I've also had it make up answers to simple math questions that I could easily check.

I think you would need to know in advance WHY the Nvidia chips are so much better and what manufacturing AND design tricks they used as the AI isn't going to invent new things.... yet.

at least that is how I see it.
