Wharfie,
If not for them, your air would be worse than China's, your water would have even more chemicals than it does now, and our national symbol would have gone extinct due to DDT.
Blah blah blah.

Is that why we should still pay $5/gallon while the rest of the nation pays $3?

Is that why electricity in California should cost 2-4X as much as the rest of the nation?

Is that why we should get rid of all of our existing cars, even the hybrids, and drive around EVs in just 10 years?

Is that why we should be sipping our cinnamon dulce suck your dick sideways nonfat frappucinos with paper straws that hardly stay in one piece the moment they contact anything liquid?

Is that why we should keep remembering to bring our reusable bags into grocery stores and refrain from using the disposable plastic bags?

It's all because if we fail to do any of that, the air in California will turn into that of Beijing and Bangalore?

If we fail to do any of that, the water will become poisoned, which will make the water in Flint, MI seem sparkling pure in comparison?

If we fail to do any of that, the food that we eat will be completely filled with DDT, and we will all die of food poisoning?

So yeah, I repeat: Tell the environ-mentalists to go F themselves.

The world would be better off without them. Without them, we'll still keep the air and water clean, and we'll still make sure that we aren't feeding ourselves literal poison.
