As I understand it, Optically Assisted is a mix of high tech/low tech. The load of the optics makes the suspension less precise than a high end magnetic drive. The laser heats a location to make the size of the area magnetized smaller and therefore more dense. The magnetic head is pretty standard. The optics don't really call for INVX wires.

At the time I was asking about this, Terastor was just making cryptic statements of what they would do. At that time, no one had yet seen what they would do exactly. In the end, this technology maybe important, but I wouldn't expect it to be especially meaningful to INVX over any other type of drive.

Hope that helps.
