Yeah,

We just blew through 1.5C.

There will be a thermal lag due to the massive thermal mass of the oceans but the temp rise is unstoppable with the rapid increase of greenhouse gasses the last few years. Large increase in forest fires, etc.

Add El Niño on top of that...

Ugly

The thing is, we really don't understand how the Earth works, as an ecological system. We are making it warmer, while driving species after species to extinction. More and more of our digitally advanced systems are very frail, just waiting for the solar flare targeting Earth EMP to fail.

The native Americans had a much better idea of how to live than we do.

Wharfie,
What has already ended, and what she was talking about, are the chance to keep warming below 1.5 degrees.
No Wharfie, she actually meant what she said. She truly thought the world will end in 12 years.

When you have to cover for a dumbass (but popular) politician by saying "but but that's not what he/she/it/they meant," then you have a real problem with credibility.

I see the Trump supporters doing that all the time, especially when Trump promises to cancel the Constitution and be a dictator for a day. "But but that's not what he really meant!"

Words mean things, Wharfie.
