It's not clear yet in "True Detective" (I'm watching as the episodes drop) whether there is something evil involved or some kind of mass psychosis, induced or otherwise.

So the mystery element is working, LOL.

It's basically "Dark Winds" on the ice with relatively less emphasis on indigenous peoples but still enough to be interesting.

That's part of the mystery. It SEEMS like there's some supernatural stuff- there's a woman, for instance, who talks to the dead- but she just might be nuts. Who knows? It's good and it reminds me of that weird show set in Scandinavia on an Island with the unburied mammoths where violence started to happen. (Fortitude was the name of the series- we liked it a lot.)
