"More than 50% of transgender and non-binary youth in states across the US seriously considered suicide in the past year,"

That's just about the same percentage as those who are thinking of moving.

Safety - US Trans Survey

  • Nearly half (47%) of respondents had thought about moving to another state because their state government considered or passed laws that target transgender people for unequal treatment (such as banning access to bathrooms, health care, or sports), and 5% of respondents had actually moved out of state because of such state action.

Up until recent decades, people who wanted to be the opposite sex were deemed to have a psychosis. Now they call it gender affirmation. But the mental illness is still the same no matter if it is accepted or encouraged by society. It still results in bad outcomes like suicide.
