Re: hearing aids.

As we age, we lose the ability to hear higher frequencies. We particularly lose the ability to hear sibilance (the "S" sound). To me, esses are starting to sound like effs. It gets comical at times.

My TV is hooked up to a fancy sound system that lets me dial up the sibilance, which brings clarity. It even has a button on the remote called "News," which is specifically for enhancing the voice. I use it for hearing dialog. It helps. It has another button called "Voice" that helps even more.

I would think that modern hearing aids can do something similar. I haven’t tried hearing aids yet, but the time is drawing near.
