At least ERCOT has rammed up renewables.

Their previous grid is a disaster in really cold weather.

Fossil fueled generation fails with all of it's inherent weak points.

Feed water pumps failing because they froze up, coal conveyor belts freezing.

Black start cabilities failed....

NG out of wells freezing because of water vapor before they could get to dryers!

The list goes on and on and on.

And renewables worked!

But the biggest problem for ERCOT is that it's not tied to other grids outside the state!

They can't move power in or out...
