Eric,
Well what can we do? Education has not worked.
To be sure, our education on wearing masks hasn't been all that good to begin with.

Especially when the media publishes articles like "Mask mandates don't seem to work" but only mention in passing that the mandates failed because in many cases, the masks weren't worn properly.

I'll never forget people here in Santa Clara County, the most mask-friendly county in all of America. I saw too many people wearing the flimsy cloth masks instead of the N95 variety. I also saw too many people leaving their noses uncovered when walking around indoors with their masks on. OF COURSE masks aren't going to work when people wear them that way.

Then there are the most avid mask advocates like Gov. Gavin Newsom going to Michelin three-star restaurants in Yountville* and not following his own advice. That led to a recall, which failed of course but showed just how pissed off people were about that.

Getting people to do the right thing is always difficult, even among those who want to do the right thing.

Then throw in the anti-maskers who carry cards issued by the fReEdOm tO bReAtHe aGeNcY, and ...
