They are building out solar PV at a rate of over 400 Gigawatts nameplate capacity a year now.

All of their coal fired generation is operating at less than 50% capacity and dropping.

They don't need to build new coal fired generation!

Their economy is rapidly slowing down.

They know they want to get off expensive imported Fossil Fuels.

That's their number one goal. Along with electrifying surface transportation.

Why would you want to pollute yourself to death when there are much cheaper and cleaner alternatives?

New tech turns CO2 into chemicals with 93% efficiency, runs record 5000 hrs (msn.com)

Researchers at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Wuhan, China, have found a reliable way to fix carbon dioxide gas from the atmosphere into useful chemical products, which scientists call a "milestone" achievement, the South China Morning Post reported....

The researchers at HUST teamed up with those from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. They spent the last five years looking for a viable solution to this problem. Their efforts yielded results when they found an electrolyte that could run the systems for at least 5,000 hours, longer than any known approach so far, marking a significant milestone. When calculated, efficiency of the system was recorded at 93 percent.
