Heck,

clothes last longer.

Shall we say less wear and tear.

But I do use the dryer to tumble the clothes for a few minutes (no heat on) just out of the washer. It takes most of the wrinkles out.

I went to a horizontal axis washer years ago. 1/10th the energy consumption and 1/5th the water consumption of a vertical axis washer.

Not to mention a fraction of the detergent!

Wharfie, your picture was taken outdoors, but whatever.

I have figured out that one of the biggest consumers of electricity in my household is my dryer, which is electric. (I didn't bother getting a gas hookup for a gas dryer.)

I could save some money on my utilities by drying my clothes outdoors (when it's not so rainy, of course), but that sucks. I want all of my problems to be first-world, not second-world.
