Paul,

I sure hope so! I bought a first one for $429 last November, and in about 30 days the electronics failed for some reason! I'm sure that the 'platters' were OK! Any way, I contacted MAXTOR and they exchange the drive under warranty! I assume that they will 'exchange' the electronics card, and resell the 'drive'. I don't think that they can sell it as 'new', and this may be the channel! Since it is a 'new high capacity' drive, even the 'rehabed' units couldn't have very many hours on them. If MAXTOR had gotten a 'batch' of inferior controller cards, they might have some drives to 'get out' of their warehouse! I will help! The replacement drive has been installed for a while with no problems, except that W95 won't address the drive as 'one volume', which is corrected in W98!

Regards,

Ken
