Mr. Aloha ---

I've only held CYMI for 3 weeks and have been trying to catch up ever since.

My ASM source said the semi equipment market was $21.3B in the first 9 mos. of '97.

Lithography was $3.4B of that.

CYMI's IR director told me DUV is 60% of lithography and Cymer has 80% of that, "conservatively."

From listening to AMAT's conference call, I learned their submicron, .25 and lower, market was 45% of business in Q1 '98 and would increase to 60% for the year, with higher margins on the newer systems. They said anyone who wasn't prepared for the new technology wouldn't be players. It was invest or be left behind.

This optimism flies in the face of the Asian slow-down and I'll be anxious to hear up-to-date reports from tomorrow's presentations.

Later --

Pat
