Japan To Expand Ex-Im Bank Lending To
Asian Countries

TOKYO (Nikkei)-The government and the Liberal Democratic Party
will announce Friday a plan to support other Asian economies, The
Nihon Keizai Shimbun learned Tuesday. The announcement will
coincide with the release of another package of emergency stimulus
measures for the domestic economy.

Among the proposals for supporting Asian economies is expansion of
the Export-Import Bank of Japan's fiscal 1997 lending to support
business activity in Thailand, Indonesia and other countries undergoing
financial and currency crises.
