Eric,
Now I engineer beta tested GPS equipment (portable handheld and Aviation products for Magellan) back in the late 1980's thru the 1990's and know in extreme detail how the system works...
Then you should know that GPS satellites can't track us directly, and that the way our devices can figure out where we are in the world is through passive means.

No, the systems that track us are not the GPS equipment itself, but rather the way all of our data is uploaded to the cloud and is freely accessible (depending on privacy policy) to the ones who maintain those data stores.

And given the way we sell ourselves in order to have "free" access to convenient services like online maps, social media, Uber, and DoorDash, and given how we have all given our passive consent to be tracked, we really have no basis for demanding electronic privacy.

Unless, of course, we start forming strict rules on how our personal data is used, and we make those limits as sacrosanct as the 4th amendment itself.
