In about 1940 to 1942 the Nazi's would have taken over the UK easily. Without massive help from overseas assisting Britain, we would have not stood a chance.

It was a close call just as it was. The magnetic mines almost won the sea war for Germany right at the outset. It was a pure piece of luck the mechanism was discovered and countermeasures put in place.

Would that still be the case today? Germany and a united Europe ?? A different question maybe.
