Alan -

Why in the world do you buy NT, then whine about it?

I don't, and he probably doesn't either, but the tall guys with management-style hair buy into the NT FUD. 'What, I can get %99.9 uptime, with a TCO of $5/box/year? Great! I'll take 50000!' Then, after a 95% turnover in the technical staff and a couple hundred grand spent on toll calls to the MSFT tech support line, somebody gets fired, and hopefully more intelligent purchasing decisions get made.

The problem is that the users never get a say on what the IT people buy and for some unknown reason they don't understand that the users want a reliable system for productivity. The only reason that I can come up with is that it makes sense for IT job security to not have the best system and NT will keep the IT people very very busy and fully employed for a long time.
