Volker killed a lot dreams and peoples bank accounts, I was lucky I had not bought a home yet. I didn't see 20%+ interest rates, I did see 11 3/4%

Volker took control of the situation and thus tamed inflation.

A similar actioned is needed today, but it won't be done by the look of things.

Not sure even if it's doable now, debt being what it is.

Inflation today is a fraction of what it was in the 70's.

My first home in 1977 had a mortgage rate of 9.5% for a thirty year term.

A couple years later it was way over 10%!

A friend of mine was paying 13% a couple years later.
