Mark,

I understand your point and it is well taken. Perhaps I am just centered on distributed systems and moving away from monolithic servers. I do not believe that a server can be tuned to serve the OLTP, DSS users equally while supporting extended data types. Perhaps I should be thinking of IFMX technology in terms of multiple servers colaborating on a common goal. Am I correct in changing my thinking on the subject? Should the Informix engine be thought of as strickly a base platform to introduce extended data types on top of? Finally, is this the common public perception of how to use the technology? I ask all theses questions since I want to understand my IFMX investment better.
