comparing SparQ to LS120/Zip/HiFD is not fair. I admit SparQ is great but they targeted to diff customers
======

I'm not so sure about that. At least when I was shopping I was looking for a replacement for a tape drive and the best options were the Zip, the LS120 and the Sparq for the $200 or less I was willing to spend. I wanted something quicker/easier/more reliable than a tape drive so I would backup and wouldn't waste hours doing it. I don't think that's all that unique a perspective. The Sparq was easily the best option, even with the uncertainty about the survival of Syquest. I was never serious about the Zip because of where it comes from and because like the LS120 it was $150 at the time. Given their relatively small capacity (compared to the Sparq) and slower transfer speeds, it wasn't all that difficult to go with the Sparq. Not to mention that the LS120 seemed destined to be relegated to the history folder eventually anyway.
