watch this out of the corner of your eye, while you enjoy the rally today ... barchart.com what is AI really? --- adaptable algorithms that sift all the crap out there on servers -- use language models to construct something coherent from the nonsense ... I'm not saying it isn't useful ... probably very time-saving for computer programmers ... probably a quicker way to get at salient information for research I am sure there are even design optimization applications as well but AI doesn't create anything from nothing and it isn't clear that it can replace experts in a field doing what they do best. of course there are downsides as well ... numerous I have a friend who says he thinks it is this ages tower of babel ... I think that is too alarmist, but I think there will be some notable failures in the future. watch for them.
