The middle class does not care about the stock market. In 2000, Gore rallied in the polls after Labor Day while the stock market was crashing to almost beat Bush.

I look at strategies and campaign tactics to drive my interpretation of how the election will turn out. Trump's campaign strategy has been excellent thus far. He has portrayed himself as a victim of a Democratic crusade against him and many are commiserating with Trump. More importantly, Trump is blaming Biden for the inflation surge and Biden is not responding. The polls reflect the fact that the Biden team is running a very poor campaign. Now some on this thread are saying Biden will respond. My response is what is the Biden team waiting for? More devastating convictions in a court of law?
