When people say "no evidence," they most often mean no or insufficient credible evidence. Adequacy is assumed. If a single individual claims there was an eclipse last night, one could reasonably say there is no evidence. A bald claim is not sufficient.

Without examining the totality of the Committee's input and deliberations, it's impossible to determine whether that particular bit was either effectively discredited or deliberately dismissed by them. The default for any charge is always skepticism until proven by some standard. No one with a brain accepts claims without question.
