Re: Circuit City PII/233 w/17" monitor for $1099

Where is this store located? Are you sure about the add you saw? The Circuit City web site's lowest Pentium with MMX technology system (not PII) is a $1000 Packard Bell system with no monitor. Can you recheck this? Was there fine print indicating a limited quantity (and thus possibly a bait 'n switch)? I'd really like to know.

Thanks, Adam

I don't know if this has been posted, but it looks like consumers (or at least the salesmen that they will be talking to) are choosing Intel over AMD even at the low end...

sfgate.com

Why buy an AMD when for at most $50 more (the spread that I see regularly in ads) you can have an Intel? There is always some uncertainty in the minds of consumers, and when presented with a cheaper, less well known product or a slightly more expensive, but more well known product, which do you think that they will go for?

Just my $.02 worth.
