On the question of "guidance" -

Companies often give "guidance" to analysts to help them make their estimates, but very seldom do they make their own earnings estimates to the general public.

True, some companies have said, "We're gonna make a zillion dollars next year." They have also ended up being sued.

That is why you hear CFOs making statements like "We are comfortable with analysts estimates," and not giving out specific numbers.

Go TAVA!

You name one company that has yet to be listed on the NASDAQ that does give really accurate earnings guidance

Who said anything about really accurate guidance? I don't follow any other unlisted companies, but I've seen lots of IPO's and they wouldn't dare approach investors without prospective financial statements. They wouldn't get a dollar!
