Microtransactions in web content.

I just read that Michael Kinsley intends to publish the Microsoft web-zine, Slate, on a subscription basis. A reader would be charged $19.95 for one year's access to the content.

This seems to cry out for the microtransaction capabilities of the Wave system. A reader who is interested only in Kinsley's piece in a particular issue should be able to purchase just that piece (or just that issue) rather than having to purchase a year's worth of issues. Moreover, it seems suited to the web-based Wave solution already functioning on the Great Stuff Network.

I know that the hardware (chip-based) solution is where the real action is, but doesn't this kind of application seem perfect?
